Mentorship

In addition to years working as a teacher, I’ve taught and mentored students through test prep, college admissions, subject area tutoring, research, writing and performance for more than 15 years. In my role as Executive Director of Y-Apply, a nonprofit devoted to college access for public school students of color, I delivered college workshops across the country.

I take an exacting approach to mentorship, coupled with empathy and humor. I don’t whittle students down to better fit the norm, and I help students “find their forte” by playing to their strengths.
